Stoves Ancient and Modern

Believe it or not, this is a big improvement over the way the kitchen was laid out before. There used to be a horrible metal camp table under the window that had been there for at least 30 years. The huge old Radarange microwave on the attractive shelf above used to be over the other window, so that it couldn't be opened. In a small kitchen with a big coal range, this made the phrase "slaving over a hot stove all day" live again. So this actually looks *good* to me, compared to how it was. We take the "roughing it" part of the equation seriously,

Where the microwave is we plan to make it into a two shelf unit, and for now get doors made for only the top shelf.. incase theres ever little ones over at granpas who need to use the microwave you can move it onto the counter :P The lower half hasnt had the inside facing wood (the white stuff)installed like the top cabniet you can barely see above the stove.
